How to Play Contra Force
Quick start
Start with Burns for a balanced weapon set. Move and aim with the D-pad, jump with A and fire with B. Collect weapon icons, then press SELECT to advance to the next unlocked weapon rather than waiting until danger arrives. Press START to open Command Select: mark the current commando NO USE, assign another to 1 PLAYER, or give a teammate a Battle Plan. Preserve each member's three lives because a lost specialist cannot be selected later.
Controls
D-pad moves, crouches and aims in eight directions; A jumps and B fires the current weapon. SELECT cycles to an unlocked weapon after enough power-up icons have been collected. START opens Command Select instead of a simple pause: D-pad selects a commando, Left/Right changes that member between NO USE, player control and available Battle Plans; START resumes play. A second player may join and cannot choose the same commando.
Contra Force — About this game
Contra Force is a US-exclusive NES action game built around a four-person commando squad. Burns uses balanced automatic weapons, Smith specializes in long-range guns, Iron carries heavy explosives and Beans favors compact firearms and mines. Each character earns weapon icons that unlock three upgrades, while the pause menu can switch the active operative or assign a surviving teammate to cover, follow or hold a position under computer control. Five side- and vertical-scrolling missions support one player or simultaneous two-player action.
