Sweep scenes with the stylus and tap objects, observation points and dialogue. Choose tools for samples; laboratory puzzles use touch placement and selection. Open character records to check missing entries and select the relevant evidence when questioning calls for it.

Five cases begin with Better to Burn Out, pairing you with Sara Sidle to investigate singer Jodi Kurt's death. Beyond gathering objects, observations and conversations add entries to character files. Lab tasks include toxicology, matching fingerprints and fitting symbol sequences into DNA patterns. A file can remain incomplete even after a scene looks clear, so inspect small details and revisit witness topics. Use the growing profiles and test results to decide which evidence to present in questioning. The record of what you learned matters alongside the physical samples.
