How to Play Déjà Vu
Quick start
Press Start, choose a file, and read the opening messages with A. Move the pointer to EXAM., press A, then select the trench coat to learn how two-step commands work. TAKE the coat and revolver, then OPEN the coat to reveal its contents. Examine unfamiliar objects before using them, save regularly, and remember that B cancels a selected command when you need to change course.
Controls
D-pad: move the pointer. A: select a command, object, inventory item, or advance/accelerate message text. B: deselect or cancel a command. Start: begin the game from the title screen. Select: not used. Saving is performed through the on-screen SAVE command.
Déjà Vu — About this game
Deja Vu places you in the role of Ace Harding, who wakes in a Chicago restroom with no memory, a puncture mark, and evidence of violence nearby. The NES interface replaces a mouse with a hand-shaped pointer used to select commands, scenery, notebook pages, and inventory items. Progress comes from examining details and combining verbs with the correct target rather than reflex action. Three battery-backed files allow the investigation to be saved and resumed.
