How to Play Dick Tracy
Quick start
Read the first clue and check mug shots before selecting Hit the Streets. On the map, drive with the D-pad, brake with A and stop before using SELECT to leave the car. Enter the matching address and search every room for clues. Use fists around civilians, reserving guns for armed enemies, then approach a suspect and press B to arrest only after gathering all evidence. B+SELECT consumes first aid when health is low.
Controls
Street map: D-pad drives or walks in eight directions, A brakes the car, B fires, SELECT exits a stopped car and START pauses. Side view: Left/Right walks, Up/Down climbs or crouches, A jumps, B punches, uses the weapon, grabs evidence or arrests. B+Up shoots diagonally upward; B+Down shoots crouched; B+diagonal-down aims downward. SELECT cycles weapons; B+SELECT uses first aid.
Dick Tracy — About this game
Dick Tracy for the US NES blends overhead driving, urban investigation and side-view action. Each of five cases begins with a clue in Tracy's office. The player consults the notepad and mug shots, drives to named addresses, exits the squad car and searches buildings for further evidence. Tracy can punch, shoot, climb, seize objects and arrest suspects, but shooting an unarmed citizen costs a badge of health. All required clues must be collected before the correct suspect can be booked, gradually building the evidence needed to put Big Boy Caprice behind bars.
