How to Play Disgaea DS

Quick start

Enter the first story battle, deploy a small group and inspect one unit's movement and attack range. Resolve a simple attack, then learn lifting, throwing and terrain effects before expanding your party.

Controls

Use DS directional or touch menu selection for units, destinations and commands. Confirm the highlighted square or action, use cancel to reconsider and execute the planned actions before ending your turn. The map cursor is a tactical selector, not direct action movement.

Disgaea DS — About this game

Disgaea DS builds tactical battles around a party deployed from a base panel. Move units, queue attacks and consider whether throwing an ally opens a better route or whether a Geo Symbol changes the battlefield bonuses. Group nearby allies for cooperative attacks and inspect ranges before ending the turn. Between story maps, recruit and equip characters; the Item World offers another route to developing equipment. Power alone does not replace checking where everyone will stand after the enemy acts. Begin with the opening tutorial and practice the main interaction before pursuing optional rewards. Read the current objective, make one deliberate choice and watch its effect before repeating it. A short first session makes it easier to separate a missed instruction from a difficult challenge. Return to the available menu when you need to check progress or adjust your approach, then continue from the next clear objective.
