How to Play Downforce
Quick start
Press START, choose Arcade Trophy and select an available car and course; Free Race is useful for learning a track, while Championship and Time Attack provide longer or timed challenges. Hold A from the start, steer smoothly and brake with B before a tight corner rather than after turning in. Your first goal is to finish the opening trophy race in a qualifying position and begin unlocking the four hidden cars and two hidden tracks. Save an item for a clear straight or a nearby rival, and use the rear view before defending a lead.
Controls
D-pad steers the car and selects menus. A accelerates and confirms. B brakes and reverses when stopped, and cancels in menus. L shows the rear view. R uses the currently held item. START pauses and opens the race menu. In menus use D-pad to highlight a car, course or mode, A to accept and B to go back. The same driving layout applies in Arcade Trophy, Free Race, Championship and Time Attack.
