How to Play Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Quick start
As Jekyll, move slowly to the right, jump over low hazards with A and use the cane with B mainly against bees; avoidance is safer than fighting. If stress turns him into Hyde, reverse your thinking and move left. Jump with A, punch with B and use Up+B for the Psycho-Wave. Defeat demon enemies to restore the gauge, but do not let Hyde reach Jekyll's real-world progress marker.
Controls
Jekyll mode: Left/Right walks, A jumps and B swings the cane. Hyde mode: Left/Right walks through the demon world, A jumps, B punches, and Up+B fires the Psycho-Wave. START begins or pauses the game. The manual does not assign a normal gameplay action to SELECT.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde — About this game
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for the US NES alternates between two connected side-scrolling journeys. Jekyll walks right toward his wedding at the church, avoiding bombs, animals and hostile townspeople because most threats cannot be defeated with his cane. Lost stress changes him into Hyde in a demon world that scrolls left. There, punching monsters and striking them with the upward-moving Psycho-Wave pushes the transformation gauge back toward Jekyll. Hyde must never advance to the same point Jekyll reached in the real world, or lightning ends the game immediately.
