How to Play Dragon Warrior I & II
Quick start
Choose I or II, create an adventure record and enter a name. In I, speak to the king, collect the starting chests, then visit the nearby town to buy and equip basic gear. Fight weak enemies near the castle before travelling farther. In II, hear the king’s instructions, collect your supplies and begin searching for the other two royal descendants. Save with a king or another designated recorder before ending a session.
Controls
D-pad: move and choose commands. A: talk, open doors, examine and confirm choices. B: open the command menu while walking; cancel or return to the previous screen in menus. In battle, choose attacks, spells or items with the cursor and confirm with A. START opens the Field Log for a temporary interruption save outside battle; use an appropriate king or save point for a regular Journal save. SELECT is unused.
Dragon Warrior I & II — About this game
Select either game from the opening menu and keep a separate adventure record for each. In I, a lone hero must balance healing, magic and equipment against individual enemies. II introduces companions with different abilities and battles against groups, making party condition and spell choices more important. Talk to residents before leaving a town, buy and equip useful gear, and return to safety when supplies run low. This is the handheld compilation with a Field Log interruption save.
