How to Play Dungeon Magic: Sword of the Elements

Quick start

Press Start at the title screen, choose one of the five schools when the adventure begins, then speak with townspeople for objectives. Stay near the opening town while learning combat, recover at inns or with camp supplies, and save at an inn. In the field, use B plus the D-pad to move the command cursor and A to execute the highlighted action; write down useful four-symbol spell combinations because casting spends HP.

Controls

D-pad: move through the first-person world; B + D-pad: select a command in the Japanese version; A: execute the selected command or talk; Start: pause. The Japanese build does not fully freeze the world while paused—enemies keep moving, though the cited Japanese guide says they do not attack during the pause.

Dungeon Magic: Sword of the Elements — About this game

Dungeon & Magic: Sword of the Element is a first-person action RPG that sends an adventurer across towns, wilderness, castles, and dungeons to oppose the revived Dark Lord. Combat and exploration continue in real time, while weapons, supplies, and four-symbol spell recipes are managed through a compact command system. Magic consumes health rather than a separate MP pool, so every cast is a tactical choice. This entry is the Japanese Famicom build, whose shorter opening and faster command input differ from the later North American release; enemies also continue moving while the game is paused.
