How to Play Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard
Quick start
Name the guild, register at least five characters and select five under Formation. Check row placement, equipment and initial skills, then save at Flaus Inn. Visit the Duke’s Palace for the first mapping mission. In the first-floor test, follow the soldier’s instructions, chart the assigned area and find your way back to the entrance.
Controls
Use the D-pad to move and select, A to confirm or advance text and B to cancel. Y opens camp and X switches the map display. In the labyrinth, L steps sideways left and R right; during battle L activates auto-battle. Use the stylus map tools to draw walls, colour floor tiles and place symbols.

Heroes of Lagaard sends your custom party into a labyrinth rising above the city rather than descending beneath Etria. Class choices and front- or back-row placement shape how five adventurers fight together. You still draw the dungeon with the stylus, but more map symbols help record useful details. Strong visible enemies patrol the maze, turning navigation into a matter of watching routes and choosing when to retreat. Returning with materials lets you prepare equipment and skills for the next ascent.
