How to Play Family Trainer 5: Meiro Daisakusen

Quick start

Online, set Family Trainer/Power Pad as the B-side. At the start, step on 6 and 7 in the center and advance forward by alternating inputs. At the first fork, try changing directions one by one: 1, 5, 2, 6, 3, 7, 4, 8, and make a note of the way you came. Save the jump that separates both inputs until you need it, and organize your route based on doors and landmarks to make it harder to get lost.

Controls

Uses special mat B side. 6 and 7 alternately move forward in the center, 5 and 6 move towards the left, and 7 and 8 move towards the right. 9/10, 10/11, 11/12 are left/center/right retreats. 1 and 5 turn sharply to the left, 2 and 6 turn left, 3 and 7 turn right, and 4 and 8 turn sharply right. If you release both feet, you will jump, and if you input again, you will land. If you touch the mat with your hands while stepping on 2-3 or 6-7, you will squat.

Family Trainer 5: Meiro Daisakusen — About this game

"Family Trainer 5 Maze Operation" is an experiential maze game where you can move forward, backward, left and right, change direction, jump, and crouch by inputting combinations on the B side of the dedicated mat. Proceed through the passages from a first-person perspective, examining doors and branches as you aim to escape from each maze. The main strategy is to memorize the combinations of sections that correspond to front, diagonal, and retreat, rather than simple consecutive hits. You can restart from where you left off using a password, and the wider the maze, the more important it is to know where you are and which direction you turned.
