How to Play Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain
Quick start
Choose NEW GAME, create your character and check the right-handed control setting. From the dock, speak to the dwarf and enter Stonebridge. Visit Wilkins in the barracks, take the Rusted Dagger and complete his strawman exercise. Follow his directions to the temple's save-orb lesson, return to read the handbook and speak to him again for the Town Key.
Controls
Default right-handed controls: D-pad moves, X/Y/A/B look up/left/right/down, and the touch screen looks/selects. L and R use primary attack slots 1 and 2. START opens pause; SELECT or the book icon opens the game menu. Tap the human icon for equipment and the potion icon for quick-slot setup. In menus, D-pad selects, A confirms and B goes back; left-handed mode swaps the movement/look roles and reverses primary attack slots 1/2.
Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain — About this game
The DS adventure puts you inside a three-dimensional world where you move, look and fight in real time. You begin by creating a character, then arrive at Stonebridge before entering Firetop Mountain. Village conversations lead into training and quests, while the mountain brings hostile creatures, equipment, spells and routes to explore. Weapons and magic can be assigned for quick use, and the character screen separates equipment from the statistics and points that develop your adventurer. The opening barracks and temple teach combat, the handbook and save orbs before you leave town. Learning those systems is part of preparing for the dungeon: a new weapon matters only if it is equipped and available when a creature approaches. The quest log keeps track of requests as you search the mountain for the warlock's riches.
