How to Play Final Fantasy I & II

Quick start

After starting up, select ``FINAL FANTASY I'' or ``II.'' ``I'' starts by deciding on occupations and names for four people, and placing the vanguard such as warriors in the top row and the magician in the back row. In ``II'', you start by entering your name and search for your destination by using words you have learned from people in town. In the field, use the cross keys to move, A to talk/investigate/decide, and START to open the menu. Equip your weapons and armor and prepare your recovery methods before you leave. Save is done from the menu of each work, and each work is managed as a separate adventure.

Controls

Common basic operations: Use the cross keys to move characters, move the cursor, and select items. Press the A button to determine commands, talk to people, and examine objects in front of you. When entering characters, use the cross keys to select a character, and press A to enter. During battle, use the cross keys to select a command or target, press A to confirm, and press B to cancel.

Final Fantasy I & II — About this game

"Final Fantasy I/II" is an RPG collection that includes the first and second FC versions on one cassette. Choose a title to play, and proceed with each work's independent save data and adventure. In "I", you first decide on the occupations of the four warriors of light, and as you raise their levels with experience points, you restore the shine to the earth, fire, water, and wind crystals. In "II", young rebels fight against the Palamekian Empire, and their abilities grow not at a fixed level, but according to the weapons and magic used in battle, the attacks they receive, etc. The basics of movement, gathering information in town, managing equipment and magic, and command-style combat are common, but the training methods and stories are very different. The 1994 edition is a combined version based on the original two works, with some display and typographical errors adjusted.
