How to Play Final Fantasy III
Quick start
Start a new game as Luneth in Altar Cave and use Attack to defeat the opening Goblins. Open the nearby chests and equip useful armor from the menu. Examine the suspicious rock to reveal the passage, then explore toward the crystal. Heal before the Land Turtle and use the Antarctic Wind items found in the cave if needed. Jobs and the full party arrive later.
Controls
DS buttons: D-pad moves/selects; A talks, examines and confirms; B cancels and changes movement speed while held according to settings; X opens the main menu. In battle, select a command and target for each available party member, then let the round resolve. The Touch Screen can also select commands and move the party. Check the configuration before relying on handedness-dependent L/R shortcuts.
Final Fantasy III — About this game
Final Fantasy III on DS rebuilds the adventure in 3D and gives its four heroes distinct identities. Luneth begins alone in Altar Cave before meeting the companions who will share the crystal quest. Later, the job system lets party members take different roles, from weapon specialists to spellcasters, so a difficult dungeon can call for a new formation rather than simply a higher level. Battles resolve through commands selected for the group, with equipment, spell resources and healing supplies shaping the plan. New jobs become available as the story advances, encouraging experimentation while keeping the early cave focused on basic attacks and survival.
