How to Play Final Lap

Quick start

Press A to accelerate and use the D-pad left and right to smoothly steer. For sharp corners, decelerate early with B, and use nitro by briefly pressing up on the rise. If you keep pressing nitro, it will run out quickly, so use it in small increments near top speed. The points you get from the best laps in odd-numbered heats will make it easier to progress by giving priority to ENGINE in the early stages and to TIRE if the turns are difficult.

Controls

Steering with the left/right arrow key. Press A to accelerate, B to brake, and use nitro on the D-pad to accelerate. In the menu, use the cross keys to select an item, and press A to confirm. Points earned for the best lap in odd-numbered heats can be allocated to ENGINE, BRAKE, TIRE, and NITRO. The FC version uses these home controls, as they are different from the gear controls found in the arcade version.

Final Lap — About this game

The Famicom version of ``Final Lap'' is a remake of Namco's arcade race with a unique winning structure for home use. Use left and right steering, accelerator, brake, and nitro acceleration to compete with your rivals and aim to beat all 20 heats. If you update your best lap in an odd-numbered heat, you can earn reinforcement points, which can be distributed to ENGINE, BRAKE, TIRE, and NITRO. Unlike the arcade version, where 8 cars run simultaneously, the home version allows you to enjoy tournament-style battles between two players at a time.
