How to Play Formula One: Built to Win

Quick start

Create a driver, enter the available D-class races, and use early prize money on reliable handling and speed upgrades instead of spending everything at once. On track, hold A to accelerate, steer with short Left/Right taps, and brake with B before the turn rather than after the car begins sliding. Press Up only when the road is straight to spend nitro efficiently. Learn each course in lower-license events, avoid contact that scrubs speed, and finish every U.S. course in first place to unlock the international Formula One circuit.

Controls

D-pad Left/Right: steer. Up: use nitro. Down: unused while racing. A: accelerate. B: brake. START: pause or resume the race. SELECT: retire from the current race. In menus, the D-pad moves the cursor and A confirms selections. Manual transmission adds the gear controls shown in the selected setup, while automatic mode handles shifting for new players.

Formula One: Built to Win — About this game

Formula One: Built to Win blends behind-the-car racing with a career and upgrade structure. Every driver begins with a D license and enters eligible races across the United States, earning money for better engines, tires, suspension, nitro, and eventually new cars. Finishing first on all 30 domestic courses opens the international championship, where 16 Formula One events award points against a field of named rivals. Handling changes with the selected vehicle and installed parts, so progress depends on both driving cleanly and spending winnings wisely. Manual transmission, tire wear, pit decisions, and a limited nitro supply add strategy beyond simply holding the accelerator.
