How to Play Freedom Force
Quick start
Connect the controller to port 1 and configure a Zapper or light-gun pointer in port 2. Aim and fire at the screen to begin, then wait for a visible weapon before pulling the trigger; civilians should be positively identified before shooting. Keep watching the lower-right item box because health, ammunition, and weapon upgrades appear only briefly—shoot the icon immediately when needed. Missing wastes ammunition, and running out of ammo or energy ends the run. In the word bonus, shoot only letters likely to complete the displayed pattern instead of guessing randomly.
Controls
Zapper aim: move the sight to an on-screen target. Zapper trigger: shoot enemies, item icons, menu targets, or letters in the bonus game. Do not fire at hostages. Controller 1 START: pause during play. The original setup requires one Zapper in socket 2 and a standard controller in socket 1; two-player mode alternates players using the same light gun rather than controlling simultaneously.
Freedom Force — About this game
Freedom Force is a Sunsoft light-gun shooter built specifically around the NES Zapper. As G.T.S. enforcer Rad Rex—or Manic Jackson in alternating two-player play—you sweep through an occupied airport and city streets, shooting armed guerrillas as they appear from windows, doors, vehicles, and cover. Hostages share the same scenes and must not be hit. Ammunition and energy are limited, while weapon upgrades and refills briefly appear in a box at the lower-right corner and must be shot to collect them. After every two stages, a Hangman-style bonus round asks you to shoot letters and uncover a word, adding a precision challenge between the scrolling combat scenes.
