How to Play Fritz Chess

Quick start

Start a practice game at a comfortable level. Check your king, choose a piece and inspect the destination and opponent's possible reply before moving.

Controls

Use the stylus to select the starting square and destination. Move only when it is your turn and review the board after each reply; follow the chosen variant's displayed rules.

Fritz Chess — About this game

Fritz Chess puts the board on the DS touch screen. Choose a manageable opponent, develop pieces and protect your king before chasing a quick capture. Practice games let you experiment, including Chess 960's changed starting arrangement. A move that wins material can still leave a threat unanswered, so inspect the reply before selecting the destination. Begin with a relaxed game to learn piece selection; tapping the source and destination separately can give more deliberate control than dragging quickly.
