How to Play Front Mission 2089 - Border of Madness

Quick start

Choose New Game and follow Rain in the first training mission. Move Storm onto the green square she indicates, then use the available weapons to destroy the four training targets while keeping Storm intact. After the mission, talk to Rain in the mercenaries' quarters, visit headquarters and choose Leave Base when ready for the next exercise.

Controls

Use the D-pad for cursor/commands, A to confirm or advance dialogue and B to cancel/close. In battle, Y toggles free cursor, X shows the machine, L/R switch units, SELECT opens commands and START opens the system window. At setup, X/Y change the machine and L/R cycle parts. The stylus also selects commands and map targets by touching or sliding over them.

Front Mission 2089 - Border of Madness — About this game

Storm and his mercenary companions take on operations whose objectives matter as much as the enemy machines. The Japanese DS adventure starts with practical training alongside Rain, then moves between base conversations, mission briefings, wanzer setup and turn-based sorties. Before each operation you can reconsider parts, weapons, repair items and armour coating to suit the opposition. On the battlefield, the durability of each part and different weapon ranges make positioning important, while Link Attacks give compatible nearby units a way to combine their efforts. Missions include investigation and protection as well as destruction, so checking victory and defeat conditions is essential. The lower screen holds the tactical map and commands, with unit data and battle views above. Learning the training controls first prepares you for the larger team and more demanding objectives that follow.
