How to Play G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero
Quick start
Choose a mission team, then move with Left/Right, jump with A, and attack with B. Press Select to switch between weapon and hand-to-hand modes; melee mode also provides grenades for upward attacks. Press Start to pause at the character screen and swap to another squad member. Search side routes for weapon, stamina, and jump upgrades before the boss.
Controls
D-pad: Left/Right move, Down crouches or enters a vehicle, Down+A drops through suitable platforms. A: jump; holding it increases jump height and it also controls vehicle jumping/ascent. B: attack with the current weapon or hand-to-hand move; Up+B fires or throws a grenade upward, Down+B attacks while crouched. Select: toggle weapon/melee mode. Start: title start/password access and character-select pause/swap.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero is a North American NES action-platformer built around team selection. Each mission lets you choose a leader and two supporting Joes with different stamina, jump ability, hand-to-hand power, and ranged weapons. Stages combine horizontal and vertical routes, vehicles, hidden upgrades, and objectives such as planting explosives before reaching the boss. Start opens the character-select pause screen, allowing a surviving teammate to take over, while passwords preserve progress between the six worldwide operations against Cobra.
