Choose New Game from the title menu, select the Warrior, Valkyrie, Wizard, or Archer, then enter the Mountain Realm and start with Valley of Fire. Your first objective is to destroy the monster generators that keep spawning enemies, collect keys and food, and reach the level exit. Search side areas for the runestones hidden across the campaign; the thirteen runestones are required for the full route to Garm. In crowded rooms, hold R to strafe so you can keep facing a generator while moving, use L to defend when an attack is about to land, and save the B-button magic blast for a dense group or several generators at once.

D-pad: move your hero and navigate menus. A: perform the quick weapon attack. B: use a potion for a radial magic blast. L: defend. R: strafe, keeping your hero facing one direction while moving. START: open the options/pause screen. The GBA version does not use a direct turbo-attack button, so use strafing and repeated quick attacks to dismantle generators safely.
