How to Play FIFA Soccer 96
Quick start
Begin with Friendly and a short match. Move with the D-Pad; hold B, aim and release for a pass, then A near goal to shoot. When the opponent gets the ball, B changes defender. START pauses and opens team settings.
Controls
Directional pad: move active player and aim kicks/passes. A: shoot toward goal; aim with left/right. B: attack: hold, aim and release to pass; defence: change player. A + B: strike opposing ball carrier. START: pause.

Move the ball across a large isometric pitch with national and club teams, using passes to create an opening before shooting at goal. This Game Boy edition gives teams their familiar identities while players have generic names. Friendly matches and knockout playoffs offer different lengths of challenge, with fouls, offside and weather among the adjustable rules. Switch the active defender when possession changes, and practise holding B, aiming and releasing a pass before attempting a long run through the opposition.
