How to Play Gear Works
Quick start
Read the first peg layout, select the gear icon with A and use B to place a compatible piece. Watch for the cursor blink that signals a fitting position, then leave space for a larger gear. D-Pad: move the cursor. A: open the four-tool selection, choose with D-Pad and press A again. B: use the selected gear, bomb, crosshairs or oil can. Switch back to the gear icon with A before placing more gears.

Gear Works — About this game
Place gears on pegs until all the starting gears turn, fitting three sizes into the limited board space. Neighbouring gears must mesh in compatible positions and directions; a closed triangle can jam the machine and make the temperature climb faster. A chooses tools while B performs the selected action, so keep that order in mind when changing from gears to bombs. Plan for the next piece, repair a blocked chain and remember that the heat limit is shared across a row of puzzles.
