Take a Japanese baseball team through batting, pitching and fielding, looking for runs rather than swinging at everything. Getting a runner on base can matter as much as a long hit: choose when to bunt and use the runner’s speed to put pressure on the defence. On the mound, vary the approach and watch the batter’s timing. Switch your attention when possession changes, keeping the next base and the out count in mind so that a successful play turns into an inning you can finish.
