How to Play The King of Fighters: Heat of Battle
Quick start
Choose three fighters and set their order. Start by learning B punches and A kicks, comparing a tap with a longer press. Hold away from the opponent to defend, then punish a missed attack. Charge with Down+A+B when at a safe distance and practice rolling before attempting long move sequences.
Controls
B punches and A kicks; tap for light attacks and hold for heavy attacks. D-pad moves, jumps with Up and crouches with Down; away from the opponent guards. A+B performs the knockback attack, Left/Right+A+B rolls, and Down+A+B charges Power. Double-tap forward to run or back to retreat; SELECT taunts.

Build a three-fighter team and choose its order for a succession of one-on-one bouts. A defeated fighter is replaced by the next teammate rather than tagged out mid-round. Brief and held button presses produce light and heavy attacks, while rolls, running and a charged Power Gauge create a fast fighting rhythm. The handheld roster includes its own unlockable characters and supports linked competition. Choose three fighters and set their order.
