How to Play Mortal Kombat
Quick start
Press START and choose a fighter with the D-pad, then START again. Practise B punches, A kicks and A+B blocking before adding Up jumps. Down+B gives an uppercut; retreat when an attack misses rather than repeating it at the same distance.
Controls
Left/right: walk. Up: jump, diagonals flip forward/back. Down: crouch. B: punch. A: kick. A+B: block. Down+B: uppercut; away+A: sweep; toward+A: roundhouse. START: title/character confirmation and continue when offered.

This is a pre-release edition. Six warriors enter Shang Tsung’s tournament, each bringing a different set of special techniques to side-on duels. Punches, kicks, sweeps and uppercuts depend on spacing and directional combinations, while blocking prevents an opponent’s attack from deciding the exchange. Win the required rounds to advance toward Goro and the tournament’s ruler. Learning a fighter’s basic reach and safe counters provides a foundation before attempting the more demanding special moves. Press START and choose a fighter with the D-pad, then START again. Practise B punches, A kicks and A+B blocking before adding Up jumps. Down+B gives an uppercut; retreat when an attack misses rather than repeating it at the same distance.
