How to Play Pocket Shougi
Quick start
Start a normal game and make one move at a time, checking your king's safety and the opponent's captured-piece reserve before confirming. D-Pad: move the board/menu cursor. A: choose a piece and confirm its destination or a reserve-piece drop. B: cancel the current selection before committing. Read the promotion choice when it appears.

Pocket Shougi — About this game
Pocket Shougi puts the Japanese board game on the Game Boy. Choose a piece, inspect its possible route and move toward an attack on the opposing king while protecting your own. Captured pieces become reserves that can be dropped back onto the board, so the danger is not limited to pieces already in view. Promotion near the far end changes the value of an advance. Build a safe position first, then look for forcing checks instead of making unrelated captures across the board.
