How to Play R-Type II
Quick start
Move with the D-pad and tap B for ordinary shots. Hold B until the beam gauge fills, then release for a charged blast. After collecting a Force unit, use A to launch or recall it and practise reattaching at the rear. Stay near open space rather than following every falling upgrade.
Controls
D-pad moves the ship. B fires the ship and Force guns; hold it to charge the beam, then release. A launches the Force or calls it back when detached. The unit can attach at the front or rear depending on where you meet it. START pauses and resumes.

Return to the Bydo battlefront with a ship whose detachable Force unit changes how you approach each wave. Keep the pod in front for protection, attach it behind for rear threats or launch it into enemies while firing. Charge the cannon for a heavy shot and collect items released by POW carriers to rebuild your weapons. Success depends on positioning through narrow scrolling spaces as much as firepower.
