Start a match or the first renju problem. Look for the opponent's immediate four before building your own attack. D-Pad: move the board cursor/select a problem. A: place the stone or confirm. B: cancel/back in menus. Before placing Black, check double-three, double-four and overline restrictions.

Renju Club: Gomoku Narabe turns five-in-a-row into a game of threats and restrictions. Place stones on the intersections, build a line of five and prevent the opponent from completing one first. Black must also avoid forbidden double-threes, double-fours and overlines, so an apparently powerful attack may be illegal. Alongside ordinary matches, the game offers fifty renju problems for practising decisive placements. Read both directions of a line before committing: a move that closes one threat can open another.
