How to Play Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters
Quick start
Enter your duel name carefully, choose campaign and inspect the forty-card deck. Start against an opening opponent, compare the visible card values and use defence when a direct clash would lose. D-Pad: move among cards and commands. A: confirm a card or command. B: cancel the current choice. Check attack or defence before committing the monster’s action.

Build a forty-card deck and challenge familiar duelists in the first Game Boy Duel Monsters. Each turn asks which card to place and whether your monsters should attack or defend; a strong defensive card can buy time for a better hand. Terrain changes can improve an opponent’s monsters as well as your own, and combining compatible monsters can produce a fusion. Win campaign duels to earn cards and reach new opponents, then revise the deck instead of treating every new card as an automatic improvement.
