At the title screen, open Options first and check CONTROL: the Genesis port offers four Trigger Types that assign Fast, Slow, Missile, and Vulcan functions across A, B, and C, and it also lets you choose normal or reversed vertical movement. Start Stage 1, keep the fighter moving laterally, and line the Vulcan sight up with enemy aircraft until missile lock marks appear. Fire guided missiles only after a lock because ammunition is limited, while the Vulcan has unlimited rounds and normally fires automatically. To evade dense fire, push fully left or right and then quickly press the opposite direction to perform a roll; change speed to handle enemies approaching from behind or obstacles at the microwave stations.

D-pad: steer the fighter; vertical direction can be Normal or Reverse in Options. A/B/C: their Fast, Slow, Missile, and Vulcan assignments depend on the selected Trigger Type, so check CONTROL before launch; Trigger Type 4 enables manual Vulcan fire, otherwise the cannon normally fires automatically. Roll: press fully left or right, then quickly press the opposite direction. Start: open title selections, begin, pause, or resume. Press any action button during the continue countdown to keep flying.
