Press Start, choose SELECT 1 PLAYER START or the two-player option, and pick an adventurer whose weapon and magic suit you. Move carefully in eight directions and keep enemies at weapon range instead of absorbing hits. Open the item window early, select a useful item or spell, and spend magic crystals to raise the spell level when a stage begins to outpace your damage. When surrounded, stop attacking and hold C to defend and partially recover from the last attack before repositioning.

The D-pad moves the hero in eight directions and moves the cursor in windows. A confirms a window selection. B uses the item or magic currently selected and also cancels a window choice. C attacks with the equipped weapon; holding C places the character in a defensive posture that partially recovers from an attack. Start begins play, pauses, and resumes. In item windows, choose with the D-pad and A, close with B, and assign magic or a special item before returning to combat.
