Choose 1 PLAYER, select Ryo Sakazaki or Robert Garcia, and begin the search for Yuri through South Town. Use light punches and kicks to test an opponent before committing Spirit to a Deathblow. If the Spirit gauge runs low, create distance and hold an attack button to refill it, but stop immediately if the opponent closes in. A taunt can drain Spirit from an opponent who is charging. After every two victories, use the bonus game to improve health, Spirit, or unlock the Haoh Shoko Ken.

Use the D-pad to walk, crouch, jump, block by holding away, and dash by tapping forward or back twice. On a three-button pad, tap A for punch and B for kick; briefly hold A or B for the corresponding power attack. A+B gives a low kick, and near an opponent use Left or Right plus a briefly held A for a throw. C provokes the opponent. Hold A, B, or C to refill Spirit. Special Deathblows use character-specific direction and attack inputs. Start pauses and resumes.
