Choose Start from the title screen and learn the action stages before the first vehicle sequence. Punch nearby enemies and save Batarangs for threats that are difficult to approach. Hold B to block attacks coming from in front, but turn to face the attacker first. Use the longer somersault jump for wide gaps, and look for ledges above Batman where the grappling hook can attach. Collect hearts after taking damage and weapon icons when your Batarang supply is low. Shooting stages switch to the Batmobile or Batwing, where missiles and machine guns replace the action-stage attacks.

Use Left or Right to move and Down to kneel. In action stages, A throws a Batarang, B punches, Down+B performs a low kick, and holding B blocks attacks from the front. C jumps; hold Left or Right and press C twice for a longer aerial somersault. At marked ledges, hold Up and press C to fire the grappling hook, then keep holding Up and press C again to pull Batman up. Start pauses. In Batmobile and Batwing shooting stages, the D-pad manoeuvres the vehicle, A fires missiles, B fires machine guns, and C is unused.
