Choose a special weapon before each of the first four stages, then keep B firing while you guide Madison with the D-pad. Crystal follows automatically; tap C whenever enemies begin entering from behind so her gun covers the rear. A launches the selected special weapon and it recharges on its own, so use it to clear dense formations instead of saving it indefinitely. Shoot cargo pods and collect F icons for firepower, hearts for life and S icons for speed. Extra speed can make precise dodging harder, so stop taking S pickups once movement feels comfortable.

The D-pad moves Madison and her hoverpack while Crystal follows. B fires the normal weapon, A activates the special weapon selected at the start of the stage, and C reverses Crystal's firing direction between forward and rear coverage. Start begins and pauses play. Both heroines act together under one controller. The special weapon automatically recharges after use. Contact with scenery is usually safe, but being trapped against the scrolling edge can still crush the characters. Item pickups take effect immediately and can alter life, speed or firepower.
