Move slowly through the opening village until Bubsy’s slippery momentum becomes predictable. B pounces on Woolies and breaks obstacles, while A starts a glide that controls long jumps and softens dangerous drops. Look up before committing to a leap, and use Up at cave entrances to explore alternate paths; stages are not strictly linear. Collect yarn balls for points, but prioritise safe landings because Bubsy loses a life from a single enemy, hazard or overly long fall.

Use Left and Right on the D-pad to run, Up to look upward or enter caves, and Down to look below or duck. B pounces and is the main way to attack enemies. A glides, extending a jump and reducing fall speed. Start pauses and opens the status display. The options menu can swap the pounce and glide buttons if preferred. Bubsy’s speed carries through jumps, so release the direction or start gliding early when approaching a small platform.
