Use the pre-generated party if you want to begin immediately, or create a balanced six-person team with front-line fighters, a medic and characters who cover technical skills. In exploration, C confirms choices and B automatically targets nearby objects or enemies. During ground combat, inspect the initiative order, move into cover, choose Target, position the crosshair and press C to fire; B cycles available targets. Conserve ammunition, search defeated enemies and save before leaving a safe area or boarding a ship.

The D-pad moves the party or cursor and highlights menu commands. C selects a command or confirms a target. B invokes automatic targeting during exploration; in combat it cycles valid targets. A opens the party display and is also used to review or rearrange characters where the menu permits. In ground combat, choose Move, Target, Quick, Wait or End, move the targeting crosshair with the D-pad, and press C to execute the shot. Turn order is governed by character Dexterity, so check who can still act before ending the round.
