Visit Jiyu-renshu practice before entering the tournament and train each of the four disciplines: karate, kendo, bo and nunchaku. Movement and attacks depend on the current stance, so test D-pad directions with A, B and C instead of expecting one universal punch button. Watch both Stamina and Ki: attacks, hits and prolonged blocks drain Stamina, while a brief pause restores it and builds Ki for stronger techniques. In the tournament, each discipline can be chosen only four times, so save your best match-ups for difficult opponents.

The D-pad moves the martial artist and changes stance; the resulting step, turn or guard depends on the selected discipline. A, B and C perform strikes, kicks, weapon attacks or blocks according to the current direction and stance, so the manual’s move chart and Jiyu-renshu practice are essential. Start pauses. Press A+B+C together to leave practice or concede a match. Resting rebuilds Stamina and Ki, while attacking uses energy; reaching zero Stamina loses the bout. Karate, kendo, bo and nunchaku each have their own command set.
