Choose a one-game match, leave substitutions automatic and learn with a balanced playoff team. On offense, move with the D-pad, press B for the nearest open teammate, or hold B and point toward a specific receiver before releasing it. Press A for a set shot while still, a jump shot while moving toward the basket, or a fade-away while moving away. On defense, B selects the defender nearest the ball, C tries a steal and A contests a shot. Avoid repeated steal attempts, which can leave the lane open or draw a foul.

The D-pad moves the controlled player. On offense, B passes automatically to the nearest open teammate; hold B, point with the D-pad and release to choose a receiver. A shoots, with movement determining a set shot, jump shot, fade-away or close finish. On defense, B switches to the defender closest to the ball, C attempts a steal and A blocks or contests a shot; holding a direction while blocking helps the defender cover distance. Start pauses. During free throws, release A as the moving T-meter reaches the target area.
