How to Play Cannon Fodder
Quick start
Press Start at Boot Hill and read the mission and phase objective before moving anyone. Use the pointer to send the full squad to safe ground, then fire from range instead of walking straight into a defended area. Bullets do not normally kill healthy allies, but grenades, bazookas, and vehicle weapons can, so separate troops before using explosives. Preserve veterans: surviving a phase improves rank, and experienced leaders carry into later missions. When an objective needs two approaches, open the status panel and split off a small troop, assign explosives deliberately, then regroup by walking the troops into each other.
Controls
Move the pointer with the D-pad. Press A on the ground to send the selected troop to that point. Hold B to turn the pointer into a crosshair and fire; while holding B, press A to throw a grenade or fire a bazooka at the crosshair. Point at a vehicle and press A to board or leave it. In a vehicle, hold A to move towards the pointer—the longer it is held, the faster the vehicle—and press B to fire its weapon. Start opens the status panel, where troopers can be selected to form up to three troops and grenades or bazookas can be divided between them.
