Choose a one-player Exhibition with 15-minute halves, select a team, use a balanced 4-4-2 formation, and leave goalkeeping on Automatic while learning. With the ball, hold A to set pass distance, B to clear, or C to shoot; the D-pad direction at release aims the kick, and holding longer adds power. Without the ball, A tackles and B makes a more aggressive slide tackle or shove, so use short presses near the opponent to reduce fouls. Press C to switch to the best defender, or press it while a pass is airborne to take the receiver early for a header or bicycle kick.

D-pad: run in eight directions and aim kicks. With the ball—A passes, B clears, C shoots; hold longer for more distance or power and aim with the D-pad on release. Without the ball—A tackles, B slide-tackles or shoves, C switches to the best defender. With a free ball—A attempts a pass, B attempts a clearance, C switches to the receiver or performs special kicks. Start: pause and change display options. Manual goalkeeper control is selected with Down+C.
