How to Play Columns III

Quick start

Begin with One-on-One Practice so the computer cannot mount a strong attack. Left and Right move a jewel block, Down drops it faster and B rotates its three jewels. Clearing matches earns attack points; once at least ten points are stored, press A to send rows to the opponent on the left or C to attack the opponent on the right. In Pyramid mode, victories award items, opened with Start and chosen with A or C. Save attacks until the opponent’s field is high, then send several rows at once.

Controls

The D-pad moves falling jewel blocks left or right, and Down increases their fall speed. B rearranges the three jewels. A spends attack points to send rows toward the opponent on the left, while C sends them toward the right; ten points are required for each row. Start begins and pauses normal modes. In Pyramid mode, Start opens the item window when items are held, the D-pad selects one and A or C uses it. Three-to-five-player modes use A and C to choose which neighbouring field receives the attack.
