How to Play Columns
Quick start
Start with Original mode on a low level and learn to plan with the preview column. Move the falling three-jewel column left or right, press Down to speed its descent, and tap A, B or C to cycle the jewel order. Build lines of three or more matching colours horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Avoid filling the centre columns too early, because reaching the top ends the game. Once comfortable, try Flash Columns, where the goal is to clear the flashing jewel as quickly as possible.
Controls
Left and Right move the falling column, while Down makes it fall faster. A, B and C all rotate the order of the three jewels in the column under the default configuration. Start begins play, pauses and resumes; it also cancels the How to Play demonstration. In menus, the D-pad selects a mode, A or C confirms and B returns to the previous screen. Match at least three jewels of one colour in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line to remove them and create chain reactions.
