Use the default three-button layout and practise Sketch’s movement in the first comic panel. A attacks, B jumps and C cycles the inventory; after highlighting an item with C, press A to use it. Combine a direction with A for high, low and back attacks, and alternate attacks because humanoid enemies can block repeated blows. Pick up objects with Down, push them by walking into them and pull levers with A. Keep Roadkill the rat when possible: releasing him can reveal secrets or trigger mechanisms, while tearing the page damages Sketch.

The D-pad moves Sketch in all directions and crouches with Down. A is the Action button: it punches, kicks, operates levers and uses the highlighted inventory item. B jumps and can grab an overhead ledge; move left or right while hanging, and use A with a direction to kick. On a three-button pad, C selects an inventory item, then A uses it. Start begins, pauses and resumes. Down picks up objects, walking against them pushes them, and directional inputs with A produce uppercuts, sweeps, back attacks and serial combinations.
