How to Play Contra: Hard Corps
Quick start
Choose an operative whose weapon set feels comfortable, then use the opening pursuit to learn fixed and free firing. B shoots, A cycles weapons and C jumps; hold A while pressing Start to switch between shot types, letting you either move while firing or lock position for precise aiming. Press Down diagonally with C to slide through attacks and damage enemies. Weapon pods add four character-specific guns, but dying loses the weapon currently equipped, so switch back to the machine gun before a risky section. Branching dialogue choices change the route and ending.
Controls
The D-pad moves and aims in eight directions. A cycles the carried weapons, B fires and C jumps. Press C with Down-Left or Down-Right to slide; the slide is invulnerable and can hit enemies. Press Down+C while clinging to a wall, ceiling or moving object to drop through. Hold A and press Start to toggle between the two firing styles, including a mode that fixes the character while shooting for steadier aim. Start pauses. During choices, the D-pad selects and C confirms; B advances normal dialogue. Buttons can be reassigned in Options.
