In the first stage, hold Left or Right to run, press C to jump and use B to fire a Cool Shot in the direction held on the D-pad. Tap rather than hold C for a low jump when the ceiling or enemy placement is tight, and hold it for height when climbing. Collect enough red Cool Points to open the cage at the exit; the required percentage depends on difficulty. Search above and below the obvious route for watches, checkpoints and hidden points, then use bonus stages to collect the six letters that spell UNCOLA.

The D-pad moves and aims the Cool Shot in eight directions. Hold Left or Right to run, Up or Down to look and climb ropes, and use directions while bouncing or trapped in a bubble. B fires the Cool Shot. C jumps; a tap gives a low jump and a held press gives a higher one. Hold Down and press C for a somersault in the chosen horizontal direction. Start begins, pauses and resumes. Collect Cool Points to qualify for the level exit, 7UP glasses to restore health and watches to add time.
