Play FIFA 98: Road to World Cup (Europe edition) Online

Use a friendly match to learn the 16-bit engine, then take a national side into Road to World Cup qualifying. Keep the ball with short ground passes, switch the point of attack with a lob and wait until the striker faces goal before shooting. Defensively, select the nearest player early and contain the runner before committing to a slide. The qualification campaign rewards consistency across many fixtures, so check the formation and starting eleven between matches instead of relying on one attacking route.

The D-pad moves the selected footballer and aims kicks. The core three-button layout uses A for a lob or high pass, B for a ground pass and C for a shot; when defending, the same buttons handle a sliding challenge, player switching or tackling according to context. Hold a kick longer for extra power, and direct it while the ball is struck. Start pauses and opens match options. Six-button pads expose extra running and skill commands, but their exact assignments should be checked in the in-game controller setup.
