How to Play FIFA Soccer 96
Quick start
Start with an Exhibition match, choose two evenly rated teams and leave the default formation in place while you learn the isometric view. Keep possession with short B passes, use A to lift the ball over a defender and save C shots for a clear sight of goal. Aim every pass and shot with the D-pad; after striking, nudge left or right to add aftertouch. On defence, switch early rather than chasing with the wrong player, and use sliding tackles only when you can reach the ball cleanly.
Controls
The D-pad moves or dribbles and also aims passes, shots and set pieces. In attack, A lobs or chips, B passes and C shoots; A+B makes a shallow lob, B+C an overhead chip and A+C a 180-degree spin. After a kick, left or right applies curve. In defence, A performs a sliding tackle, B switches player or steals at close range, and C provides speed according to the selected controller setup. Start pauses; a six-button pad gives direct access to extra commands such as sprint.
