Begin with Arcade mode to learn the fundamentals, or choose Quest when you want character growth and shops. Keep moving because health drains with time even before enemies hit you. Hold B and pivot with the D-pad to fire continuously while standing in place; destroy generators before their monsters fill the room. Save C potions for dense screens because they damage every monster at once. Pick up food for health and keys for doors, test suspicious walls with shots, and watch trap tiles that remove barriers or open routes.

The D-pad moves in four directions. A performs the close attack in Battle mode, B fires the weapon and, when held, locks position so the D-pad pivots the firing direction; shots continue while B remains held. C uses a magic potion. Start begins and pauses play. In menus, A, C or Start confirms and B returns. Walking into an adjacent enemy while pressing toward it performs close combat in dungeon modes. Keys open doors automatically and shots can reveal destructible walls.
