How to Play John Madden Football '92

Quick start

Pick an exhibition, playoff, or season game, choose a team and playbook, then call a formation and play at the line. Read the defense before snapping, use short passes and runs to sustain drives, and manage the clock late in each half. On defense, select a player near the ball and close the running or passing lane.

Controls

D-pad: navigate play diagrams and move the controlled player. Offense before the snap: B uses a fake count and C snaps. Passing: press C to display receiver windows, then A, B, or C for the marked target. Ball carrier: A dives, B spins, C bursts. Defense: B switches to the nearest defender, A tackles, and C jumps. Start pauses; kicking uses the timing meter shown on screen.
